San Benedetto del Tronto

Information & Tips about San Benedetto del Tronto:

San Benedetto del Tronto is a very popular sea town on the Adriatic Southern coast of the Marche Region. The fishing fleet is one of the most prestigious in Italy and it was here that the first Italian motor fishing boat was launched in the distant 1912. Nowadays San Benedetto is known in the world as Riviera delle Palme thanks to the 7,000 palms planted all around the town. There are many historical sites to visit, in particular the city landmark, the Tower of Gualtieri (known as the Torrione), or the Church of San Benedetto Martire, the papal barracks, the Secondo Moretti Avenue, where people used to take a stroll up and down (called the "struscio"). We also recommend to visit other monuments, such as the Fisherman Monument, by Cleto Capponi, and the Monument to the seagull Jonathan, created by Mario Lupo.
