Piombino lies on the Southern end of the homonymous promontory, on a strip of land to the North of the Gulf of Follonica: the town marks the borders between the Ligurian Sea, to the North, and the Tyrrhenian Sea, to the South. With more than thirty kilometers of coast, it is one of the most appreciated and popular tourist destination among Italian and foreign tourists.

Its beaches are very different from one another, and this is the reason why they can meet the needs of all vacationers: there are sandy beaches as well as rocky beaches. The natural background against which they are inserted is also varied and multiform: some beaches are, in fact, edged by a luxuriant vegetation of Mediterranean Maquis; others are closer to the town; while still others are characterized by the presence of ruins from past centuries. Among the most beautiful beaches, we can mention those of Salivoli, Calamoresca and the Spiaggia Lunga. The name of the latter is due to the fact that it is the largest beach in the municipal territory: it is made up of white pebbles and green waters that are particularly clear and clean. It can give hospitality to everybody: groups of friends, couples, and families with children who can enjoy or relax themselves. On the seaside you can easily find bars and restaurants where you can enjoy a cool breeze; and there are also many facilities to rent surfboards or boats.

In Piombino there are several kinds of accommodation facilities and tourist resorts ranging from luxury hotels to residences, from apartments to campsites: they are different ways to understand holidays but all characterized by the contact with nature.

From the town, it takes few minutes to reach Populonia and Baratti, the Etruscan homeland, where you can admire both naturalistic beauties and archaeological finds.
