Panarea

Information & Tips about Panarea:

Off the coast of Northern Sicily we can find the archipelago of Aeolian Islands, made up of seven isles with different shape and size. The smallest one is Panarea, extending for just 4 square kilometers. Notwithstanding its size, Panarea is a magic place that attracts every Summer many Italian and foreign tourists enchanted by its naturalistic beauties.

Its beaches are small, uncontaminated and wonderful; most beaches can be reached only by sea, what ensure they are not very crowded. Among the best ones there is undoubtedly Cala Junco, that mirrors in a marvelous, extremely clean sea, the seabed of which is perfectly visible from the surface of its blue waters. Cala degli Zimmari is also lovely and Lisca Bianca, too, the name of which is due to the light color of the rocks, a very peculiar shade deriving from the fumaroles and the sulphurous water pockets which were still active a few years ago. It is a beach located in one of the several rocks and tiny islands that surround Panarea; Lisca Basiluzzo is a tiny, dome-shaped island, a big volcanic rock with rocky walls sheer to sea: here we can find the ruins of an ancient Roman villa. Moreover, Spinazzola is wonderful but it is an inaccessible rock that gives hospitality to a colony of Mediterranean fan palms which is unique in Europe.
