Noto
Information & Tips about Noto:
The splendid town of Noto lies in the Western side of the province of Syracuse, at the foot of the Mounts Iblei. Its architectural beauties have been listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002. It has a long coast that gives the name to the homonymous gulf.
The main attraction lies exactly in its beaches mirroring in hot and limpid waters, they attract thousands of Italian and foreign tourists every year. Among the best beaches we can mention Cala Mosche di Noto, which is also called Funni Musca in local dialect; access is forbidden to boats, but it can be easily reached by land. The splendid beach is 200 meters long and is made up of fine, golden sand. The two rocky promontories that enclose it are rich in grottos and are characterized by the Mediterranean Maquis.
Another beautiful beach is Spiaggia Gallina, which is inside the Natural Reserve of the River Cassibile. It is a very large beach extending for almost 500 meters and surrounded by a thick pinewoods where you can find relief when it's hot. The sand is soft, fine and golden, the sea is transparent. The Spiaggia Vendicari – included in the homonymous natural reserve – is also worth visiting. The beach is formed by light sand and is surrounded by a luxuriant vegetation, prevalently Mediterranean Maquis; the waters are crystal-clear and the seabed slopes gently what makes it safe for children, too.
