Marsala
Information & Tips about Marsala:
The town of Marsala lies in the western side of the Sicilian coast, precisely in Capo Boero, just opposite the Egadi Islands and Isole dello Stagnone. Renowned all over the world for its homonymous wine (indeed, it has been appointed Città del Vino since 1987), Marsala attracts many tourists thanks to its naturalistic beauties, especially its enchanting beaches.
Among the best ones we can mention Spiaggia Punta Tramontana, which is made up of fine, light sand and a crystal-clear, transparent sea. Along the coast, we can see the alternation of free access areas and well-equipped beaches characterized by the presence of bathing resorts endowed with all services and comforts that tourists may need; sea waters are very clean so that it has been awarded with European "Blue Flag".
Marsala is also the right place to arrange tours and excursions in the neighboring areas; the regional wildlife reserve of Isole dello Stagnone di Marsala is undoubtedly worth visiting. It is the largest lagoon wildlife reserve in Sicily, including many different environments and habitats: the green, luxuriant vegetation alternates with reed beds, salt dunes, and golden beaches mirroring in crystal-clear waters. We can also admire very old windmills, now perfectly restored, which are very peculiar: one of them, the Ettore Infersa Windmill hosts the Museum of Salt, which is really unique of its kind.
Furthermore, you can also do several sports, such as kite-surfing and windsurfing, given that waters are not very deep and winds blow constantly.
During the Summer nights, the streets and squares of Marsala are crowded with people: tourists can choose among the several restaurants close to the sea, ice-cream parlours, bars or discos where they can spend the whole night; or they can simply have a relaxing walk.
