Massa is the main town in the Province of Massa and Carrara, and among its hamlets the most famous and renowned one is Marina di Massa. It is a lovely seaside village attracting thousands of tourists from every part of Italy and Europe in Summertime. It offers several kind of accommodation facilities such as traditional hotels, residences, campsites, etc. The main attraction of this village is represented by its sandy beaches: most of them are equipped with bathing-huts, beach beds and umbrellas, and you can also find bars and restaurants. Besides the golden sand, there are also many rocks emerging about a metre above the water surface. Close to the beaches, the large pinewoods can offer you fresh air and relax. Sports fans can enjoy a great number of activities organized by the town: you can play traditional water sports such as swimming, sailing, surfing and windsurfing, but also skating, horse-riding and golf. Furthermore, it is possible to arrange excursions and tours in the neighboring territories: a cycle lane connects Marina di Massa with Forte dei Marmi. In the so-called area of the Rochi, a WWF oasis has been created where you can admire several species of plants, animals and birds.
In the night, the streets and squares of Massa and Marina di Massa are crowded with people: craftsman's workshops are open and a lot of local markets are organized in the city centre.
