Licata

Information & Tips about Licata:

Licata is a marvelous town in the province of Agrigento attracting every year thousands of tourists, both from Italy and other countries, thanks to the peace and tranquility they can enjoy on its beautiful beaches.

The territory of Licata extends for about 20 kilometers along the Southern Coast of Sicily, the features of which are very heterogeneous and disparate: East to the town, the territory is characterized by large coastlines made up of fine, golden sand; on the contrary, to the West we can find above all beaches made up of gravel and pebbles together with suggestive sea cliffs.

One of the most famous and populated beaches in Licata is that of Mollarella: it is a sandy bay enclosed to the East by the rocky ridge of Caduta and to the West by the promontory of Mollarella. Some stretches of beach are private, but we can find mostly free access areas, endowed with all comforts, and bathing resorts. Besides the wonderful panorama you can admire from the top of the mount, and the crystal-clear waters of the sea, there are a lot of archaeological finds in the area.

The beach of Falconara is also worth visiting for its golden sand and the beautiful cliff close to it where you can lie in the hot summer sun after bathing; equally beautiful is the Playa, a very long beach extending for almost 4 kilometers; it is made up of golden sand and can be reached even with public transport. Here you can find numerous places to have fun in the day but also at night.

Those who love history cannot miss visiting the numerous archeological sites distributed along the whole municipal territory: in fact, in Licata many archaeological finds have been discovered ranging from the primitive to the byzantine culture.
