Levanto

Information & Tips about Levanto:

Levanto, a seaside town in the province of La Spezia, is a place with a great beauty and charm, ideal for all those who are looking for a holiday made of sun, sea and amusement. Located in a peculiar position, as it is in the middle of a valley covered with pinewoods and olive groves, this town faces the sea directly, offering to tourists a breathtaking panorama. Its waters are crystal-clear, its beaches are clean and well-equipped made up of big, grey grains. There are several lidos extending from Punta Gone to Punta La Pietra, though free beaches are also present at the ends of the long stretch of sand. Among the best beaches there is that of the Casinò, made up of sand mixed with small pebbles. In the eastern side of the inlet, we can find a little tourist port for small-sized boats.

Levanto is very famous among the lovers of water sports; in fact, it is among the few Italian seaside resort where you can do surfing. The large gulf of the town and the winds blowing incessantly help to create waves of considerable height, sometimes more than three meters high; moreover, there are different types of sea beds – namely sandy, rocky and mixed ones – so that waves of different quality can be originated. Other water activities are snorkeling and diving, especially in the waters of Punta Mesco.

The well-known Cinque Terre are not so far from the town and are easy to reach by shuttle service trains or ferryboats; here many attractions are offered to those who like nature and trekking.
