Lavagna

Information & Tips about Lavagna:

The town of Lavagna lies on the coast of the Riviera Ligure di Levante in the Tigullio area, about fifty kilometers far from Genoa. Famous all around the world because of the slate, the mineral defined as the Ligurian "black gold", this little village can also boast some of the most beautiful beaches in the region; in fact, in 2007 the town has been awarded with the Bandiera Blu for the quality of its coast.

Spreading for about 4 kilometers, the sandy coast of Lavagna is the longest in Levante; the beaches, made up of golden sand or small, smoothed pebbles, are mostly equipped with lidos, and allow tourists to get to the sea very easily for the water are shallow. For this reason, and given the cleanliness and warmth of the waters, they are ideal for families with younger children. The tourist port of Lavagna is also well-equipped and can be considered as one of the largest in the Mediterranean Sea with its 23 landing wharfs and more than 1600 berths. As far as accommodation facilities are concerned, there are several types of them in order to meet any requirement: they range from luxury hotels to campsites, from boarding houses to residences.

After a whole day spent on the seashore, nothing is better than taking a long walk along the promenade facing the beach; here tourists can find restaurants, bars, ice-cream parlours, small shops and hawker stalls.

Furthermore, there are numerous itineraries for those who love nature who can leave from the beach to reach the soft hills at the back of the town to discover Val di Fontanabuona: the sights offered to visitors are among the most beautiful and interesting ones in the Ligurian Apennines.
