Elba Island

Information & Tips about Elba Island:

Elba Island is one of the favourite destinations among Italian and foreign tourists thanks to its clear blue sea, its beaches, the uncontaminated nature and the sources of entertainment it can offer. The main feature of the largest Tuscan island is surely its extraordinary variety of places you can happen to visit here: mountains, hills, and level lands. However, its international prestige is probably due to the 140 kilometres of beaches along its coast. In fact, these are very numerous and of different types: there are sandy beaches, beaches with pebbles, rocky coves and granite cliffs, all washed by a crystal clear sea where you can play the most widespread water sports, such as sailing, surfing, windsurfing and canoe; some beaches slopes gently so being ideal for children, too; while others have a steeper seafloor. Moreover, you can choose to go to one of the numerous well-equipped beaches or to those free, that are by no means rare; in several spots on the island you can also find the so-called "Blue Points" where you can rent beach umbrellas and beds to be used at the free beaches. Besides water sports, on the Elba Island you can perform several activities connected with nature by organizing excursions on foot, by bike or by horse, doing trekking, free climbing and paragliding. Even the life at night is very interesting: besides visiting the several municipalities of the island, all very beautiful with their breathtaking panoramas, you can taste the typical gastronomic products of local traditions in one of the restaurants overlooking the sea. Furthermore, young people can have fun spending the night in the several pubs and discos of Elba Island.
