Chiavari
Information & Tips about Chiavari:
Due to its geographical position, in the Gulf of Tigullio, and to its historical and business importance, Chiavari is usually defined as the capital city of Tigullio. The town lies in the Riviera di Levante of the Ligurian Sea: thanks to its clear waters and the quality of its beaches, Chiavari has been awarded many times with the prestigious recognition Bandiera Blu between 2003 and 2009.
The coast is quite extended; besides free-access areas, there are a lot of well-equipped beaches with lidos, capable of provided tourists with all the services they need. For those who prefer to spend a day enjoying the sun and the sea in a well-recessed beach, we recommend to go to Cavi, an extraordinary beautiful place about two kilometers far from Chiavari. Near the railway station, a little beach made up of stones and pebbles mirrors in the clear and limpid waters of the sea; here the seabed becomes rapidly deep so that it is ideal for skilled swimmers.
A tourist port (Marina di Chiavari) is also present in Chiavari and it is quite large: in fact, it has a capacity for more than 450 boats, distributed among 9 wharfs and 2 quays, while on dry land there are 215 seats available for small boats and cars.
Chiavari's city center is worth visiting; like any other Ligurian centre whose origins can be dated back to the XI century, here carruggi also wind along two continuous lines of arcades, supported by columns with different size and shape.
