Right in the middle of the Costa degli Etruschi lies Castagneto Carducci, a marvelous town in the province of Livorno where history, art and nature are combined together. Its coastline is on the Ligurian Sea and is characterized by large pinewoods, planted in the XIX century after the reclamation of the area once marshy. Among the most beautiful and appreciated beaches of the town, there is surely the beach of Seggio, which is also included in the Touring Club's Blue Guide. It is a golden beach of fine sand divided into two parts by the homonymous river: the left zone of the river Seggio is the most populated part for free access areas alternate to bathing establishments that offer every kind of services and comfort. On the contrary, the right stretch of sand is wilder and uncontaminated; however, both are enclosed by a thick pinewood where you can find shelter from the sun and have a rest. There is a crystal clear sea with a seafloor that slopes gently, it is especially ideal for families with children.
Excursions of every kind can be organized here, among the most suggestive itineraries there is the Bloghieri one, where you can find an important faunal oasis; while another one winds along the hills of Castagneto that you can reach by bike or by horse. The pathways have several lengths and levels of difficulty and allow tourists to fully appreciate the fantastic sights and the luxuriant vegetation that characterize Castagneto Carducci. Furthermore, along the Strada del Vino, you can taste some of the most valuable wines of our peninsula, besides the olive oil and other typical products of the area.
