Located on the coastline of Versilia, at the foot of Apuan Alps, Carrara is a town renowned all over the world for white marble mining and processing activities, the typical marble of the area used to build some of the most important monuments and sculptures in Italy.
The town goes from the coastline to the mountains: in fact, Marina di Carrara is on the Ligurian Sea and offers many opportunities to do amusing activities during the Summertime. Its coasts are characterized by a fine, golden sand and enclosed between the clear blue of the sea and the green of the thick pinewoods at their back. Marina di Carrara is easily reached thanks to the network of road and rail links, and it can give hospitality to thousands of tourists every year providing them with the facilities able to meet all of their needs: they range from luxury hotels to residences, from bed & breakfast to campsites. Bathing establishments are numerous and very modern; moreover, it is possible to do several sports, both water sports and classic ones such as soccer, golf or tennis. Moreover, the Boat Club of the town is provided with a small tourist port.
One of the advantages this town offers is to combine the benefits of a marine environment with that of a mountain one: in fact, you can spend your afternoons on the beach or making excursions going more than thousand meters above the sea level to enjoy an unusual sight of Carrara. From the Tuscan town you can reach the main neighboring centres in a short while: the hinterland is rich in history and art, think only to the close town of Camaiore with its famous, perfectly preserved buildings of the Romanesque Age.
