Camogli lies just twenty kilometers far from Genoa and is one of the most renowned and popular seaside resort in Liguria. This small sea village is in the Paradiso Gulf, along the Riviera Ligure di Ponente, to the West of the Portofino's promontory. Being built next to the massif, the village is protected from the cold winds coming from North; it is its mild climate to make it an ideal tourist destination. Beaches in Camogli are rather small, made up of pebbles and light stones smoothed by the slow action of waters; the sea is clear and limpid, and the waters are shallow near the seashore so they are suitable to families with younger children.
Furthermore, the protected marine area in front of the beach offers the chance to dive for those who love scuba diving and discovering an uncontaminated seabed. From the small beach in the bay of San Fruttuoso, skilled excursionists can follow the path leading to Punta Chiappa, with its rocks falling sheer to the sea and other suggestive landscapes; in Semaforo Nuovo, near Portofino Vetta, you can also do trekking starting from the several paths crossing the whole promontory.
Those who choose Camogli – the town of the thousand white sailing ships – as their holiday destination will be positively impressed by its characteristics, its small houses painted of thousand colors facing directly the coast; most buildings, especially those located in the city centre, are very old, but have been modified during the centuries, though they haven't lost their peculiarity that made them so famous all over the world. The seaside promenade is also wonderful, you can walk through little shops, boutiques and restaurants, and reach the roundabout in Lictorian style which can be traced back to the beginning of the last century.
