Bordighera

Information & Tips about Bordighera:

Bordighera is a very old town, now a renowned tourist destination in the Riviera Ligure di Ponente. In fact, this town lies in a very favourable geographical position: located in the Capo Sant'Ampelio, about twenty kilometers far from the French border, it is exactly at the foot of the Maritime Alps. The mountain range, protecting it to the North, makes temperatures uniform all the year round, without sudden changes: Winters are mild and in Summers cool breezes blow constantly so mitigating the heat. Thus, it is really pleasant to spend your days on the coast of Bordighera; in fact, also because of the beauty and safety of its waters, it has been awarded with the Bandiera Blu for several years. Beaches are made up of white pebbles smoothed by the constant work of the waves, while the seabed slopes rapidly. Some beaches are free, others are organized in lidos and bathing resorts, and offer numerous services not only for adults – such as bars, restaurants and playing fields – but also for the younger who can find here play areas devoted to them. Late in the afternoon, you can't miss a walk along the promenade Argentina, parallel to the beautiful beach and the railway: here, among the little shops and stalls of local craftsmen, tourists can buy any kind of souvenirs, gifts and gadgets. For those who love nature, we recommend to visit the exotic garden Pallanca, located in a panoramic position, on a steep rocky slope sheer to the sea: here, more than three thousand species of plants are preserved.

At night, the little streets of Bordighera are crowded with tourists walking and meeting in the squares; the City Centre is also very popular, it is an old fishermen village overlooking the sea.
