Bonassola
Information & Tips about Bonassola:
The town of Bonassola, belonging to the Consortium of Communes in Mountain Areas Riviera Spezzina, lies in a peculiar geographical position, in a gulf of the Eastern Ligurian Coast. In fact, it is located in the narrow strip of level land close to the first buttresses of the Ligurian Apennines, enclosed by a hill circle made up of terracing where vineyards and olive groves are cultivated and thick maritime pine woods grow.
Its beaches, enclosed between the sea and the mountains, are small-sized but really suggestive, for they usually delimitate little inlets; among the prettiest ones we can mention that enclosed at its ends by two spurs, namely La Punta del Carlino and the promontory of the Madonnina della Punta, covered by Mediterranean Maquis. Beaches are paralleled by a crystal-clear sea, the destination of many Italian and foreign tourists who every year choose Bonassola to find the peace and tranquility they miss in their daily lives.
Being close to the Cinque Terre, you can leave from there to arrange excursions to discover the most suggestive and uncontaminated natural places; both the Parco delle Cinque Terre and the Parco di Portofino are worth visiting, they are protected areas where you can find a varied flora and fauna. Furthermore, in the proximity of Madonnina della Punta, inside Villa Peverati, you can find a large botanical garden where you can admire species of plants coming from all over the world. After a whole day spent on the beach, the ideal is to have a relaxing walk along the streets and the squares of the town that are crowded with people: besides seeing monuments and places of major interest, you can stop in one of the several bars and restaurants to enjoy your nights with your friends.
