Bocca di Magra
Information & Tips about Bocca di Magra:
Bocca di Magra is a little centre in the province of La Spezia, located on the right bank of the river Magra and at the farthest point of the Ligurian territory, near Apuan Alps. Built as a fishermen village, now it is one of the most appreciated tourist destination in the whole region of Liguria.
In front of the town, where the river Magra flows into the sea, a small port lies, made up of few wharfs adorned with lavender flower beds the walls of which serve as a seats for those who want to stop and admire the surrounding panorama or simply to observe docked boats. Not so far from the port, there is a beautiful, sandy beach well-equipped with all services; the cool breeze blowing constantly makes the place particularly pleasant to lie in the sun, while sports fans can do water activities such as sailing, kite surfing and windsurfing. Moreover, in Bocca di Magra several motorboat services are available to reach the myriads of hidden, tiny beaches and unknown coves so that tourists can enjoy comfortably the sea. Tourists can easily reach the surrounding towns, such as Portovenere and Cinque Terre, to do interesting excursions.
Then, we recommend a tour along the slope of Caprione, which is near the centre of Bocca di Magra: besides enjoying a wonderful sight of the sea enclosed between the light marbles of the Apuan Alps, tourists can visit an old villa built in the I century B.C. with its rooms following the hill sides sloping gently to the sea, and the plasterworks painted as a testimony of the ancient luxury once experienced in this stately home.
