Arenzano
Information & Tips about Arenzano:
Arenzano is a little town on the coast of the Riviera Ligure di Ponente, located inside an inlet closed by Capo di San Martino; the majority of the town territory – that for its natural beauties is included in the Regional Park of Beigua – is mountainous with some tops higher than thousand meters. The peculiarity that makes the coast of Arenzano unique is, in fact, the closeness of mountains and sea: some hill sides face directly the sea giving rise to a very suggestive panorama. There are a lot of inlets; beaches are small-sized, some free and others equipped with bathing resorts including bars, restaurants, swimming pools and play areas so that adults can relax and children can have fun.
The waters are clean and clear, and the seabed will meet the needs of those who love diving activities: the extent of sea between Arenzano coast and Punta Ivrea has been designed as a Site of Community Interest by the network Natura 2000 of the Ligurian Region. There is an uncontaminated habitat where you can see several species of fish, besides multicolored rocks and prairies of Posidonia. Moreover, one and a half mile to the West of the tourist port in Arenzano, at a depth of more than 70 meters, there is the wreck of the supertanker Haven, sunk in 1991, which is the destination of many underwater excursions.
In Summer, you can spend your nights in Arenzano at one of the numerous pubs or music bars along the seaside promenade, and then you can go to one of the several discos of the Ligurian Riviera, or you can enjoy a relaxing walk along the promenade dedicated the Genoese singer-songwriter Fabrizio de André.
