Alcamo lies at the foot of Monte Bonifato, right in the middle of Golfo di Castellamare, on the border with the province of Palermo. It is one of the most famous and appreciated Sicilian towns as it is chosen every year by thousands of tourists as their favorite destination. In fact, thanks to its morphology and the privileged position, the territory of Alcamo is full of natural attraction: the town offers mountains, beaches and sea to tourists.
At a distance of only five kilometers from Alcamo there is the hamlet of Alcamo Marina: it is characterized by its long beach made up of fine, golden sand, that extends for more than three kilometers. The coast is mostly composed by free access areas, but some stretches of sand are privately managed by bathing resorts and hotels offering all services and comforts. In the opposite sea, many water activities can be done, such as swimming, sailing, canoeing and windsurfing. Those who love traditional sports won't be disappointed: the town is endowed with several sports facilities, the most important of which are the town stadium, where football and athletics are played, and the indoor sports arena, where basket and handball matches take place.
Those who prefer excursions can have long walk immersed in the uncontaminated nature of Monte Bonifato, where the homonym natural reserve lies; with bike and horseback riding tours the contact with the luxuriant vegetation is ensured and you can enjoy wonderful sights of the surrounding countryside and of the hills covered with vineyards or of the sea.
