Albinia

Information & Tips about Albinia:

Albinia is one of the most important seaside resorts in the province of Grosseto; it is a hamlet of Orbetello, located along the Via Aurelia, next to the mouth of the river Albegna. The town is very renowned for summer tourism: its beaches are wide expanses of fine sand washed by the crystal clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea. They can be easily reached, both on foot and by bike or by car; for those who have no private means of transport available, public transport is very efficient. A few kilometers far from Albinia, you can find some of the most wonderful beaches of the whole region: that of Giannella is worth mentioning, while the beach of Feniglia is one of the most visited both by local people and tourists. Close to these beaches, there are large pinewoods where you can find shelter from the sun.

Leading off this town in the province of Grosseto, the road that goes through the Tombolo della Giannella, a protected area of WWF that, together with the wood of Patanella, represents an important refuge for many animals. From a naturalistic point of view, there is the so-called Stagnetto di Albinia, at the Northern end of the west lagoon; here the low saltiness of water encouraged the development of a large reed bed where several species of animals, above all birds, live undisturbed. The centre of Albinia is full of life even at night, when the streets and squares are crowded with people, creating a lovely and relaxing atmosphere, ideal for couples, but also for groups of friends and families.
